We, the 2010 HFC Electoral Board, present to you our 2010-2011 HFC set of Officers. We did not see the need to conduct an Election given the fact that no other people were vying for the positions aside from those listed above.

These people have affirmed and accepted their respective positions and are all willing to serve and dedicate their time for the sake of our HFC community.

In behalf of the HFC Electoral Board, we would like to congratulate them and wish them all the best in their new roles. May we continue to show our support and cooperation and that we may have a fruitful year ahead, continue our spirit of oneness and brotherhood in our HFC community, Mabuhay po tayong Lahat.!

The following is issued on behalf of the HFC Electoral Board:

The set of guidelines laying down the procedures for conducting the 2010 Hull Filipino Community Election and the rules for election activities has been formulated and comes into operation today (August 18, 2010).

The election is scheduled for August 29, 2010 to fill the vacancy in the positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor and P.R.O.s

1. ELIGIBILITY

- Any member of the Hull Filipino Community aged 25 years or over can run as President; aged 17 years or over for all other positions.

- Previous, incumbent and appointed officers may run in the Election.

- Previously nominated candidates who did not decline are automatically included in the list of Candidates.

- Existing members of the Electoral Board are not free to run in the Election.

- Voting age is from 17 years old and over.

2. FILING OF CANDIDACY

- The filing of candidacy is from 18^th August 2010 until 25^th August 2010.

-Candidates will have to fill up and sign the form provided by the Electoral Board.

-A written consent is signed and submitted with the form if the candidate has been proposed.

-To obtain the form immediately, you may contact any member of the Electoral Board.

-Forms will be personally delivered to your nominated place and will be collected just the same only by the members of Board.

3. MODE OF ELECTION

- In person at the voting centre

- By sealed envelopes only if the person cannot be physically present because of work or any other similar circumstances or

- Thru email at hullfilcom@yahoo.co.uk only if voting in person and by sealed envelope is not possible (e.g. out of country/holiday).

4.ELECTION DAY

- The Election is scheduled for August 29, 2010 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm

- Venue to be announced

5.COST - All cost incurred conjunctive to the conduct of the HFC Election upon proper documentation, will be chargeable to the HFC fund.

HFC 2010 ELECTION : IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER

As agreed upon during the recently concluded meeting, The HFC Electoral Board for 2010 is announcing informations and important dates to remember for the HFC Election of Officers for the year 2010-2011.

25^th June to 10^th of July 2010 - Period for Filing of candidacy either by post or email by any HFC member who wishes to run in the HFC 2010 Election.

-same period given to HFC members to submit their nominees for the various positions, (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, PRO1, PRO2, PRO3), in the HFC 2010 Election.

11^th July 2010 - Publishing of the list of the Top four (4) nominees in each of the positions.

15^th July 2010 - Deadline for the nominees to accept/decline the nominations.

16^th July 2010 - Final Listing of the Names of the Candidates for the HFC 2010 Election.

25^th July 2010(as amended) - HFC Election day, Sunday at The Village Hall (beside St. WILFRIDS Parish Church, Boulevard) From 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Mode of Voting? In person at the voting station, by sealed envelopes or thru email at hullfilcom@yahoo.co.uk

Who can vote? -HFC members aged 17 years old and above.

Who can run for the Posts? -Any HFC member 17 years and above, may run except for the Presidency, which has a 25 yr. old minimum age requirement.

Hello Everyone!

We had a meeting yesterday regarding the details of the Hull Filipino Community Election (I know.... I can only apologize for the lenght of time it took). Anyway, may we request volunteers to be members of the electoral committee (COMELEC). We needed 5 lovely people to make up this committee, so if you could spare sometime please give me a ring (320227). Also anybody who wants to run for office is very much welcome and encouraged to do so. This could be done by filling your own candidacy, or members can nominate people that they deemed can give a fresh and inspiring influence on the community. So everybody start thinking of names.

But as you all know, it is crucial to form the COMELEC first before any other steps can be taken. So please, help us out by calling me to volunteer or any suggestion of a name that we might persuade to help us.

Lenten Reflection : Living Happily

Happiness cannot be travelled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude. – Denis Waitley

Life is a journey. Along that journey, one experiences many different situations, meet diverse people and encounter a multitude of adventures, happiness, sadness, achievement, peace, anger, excitement, despair and much more.

We can be generous and loving sometimes while other times we feel empty, vengeful and arrogant. There are times when one feels that life is satisfying, happy and fulfilling. However, life is not one long rollercoaster of joy and glee. Truthfully, as you read this you might be suffering of one kind of another of these experiences. Pain and heartache does not distinguish between age, or wealth or status or nationality. There is no easy way of protecting yourself totally from some of the hardships of life.

To some experts however, there is a way to minimize suffering and to maximize the levels of happiness that we can experience.

Some of life's sufferings are unavoidable. However we can take responsibility for preventing as much suffering as possible. Much suffering can be the result of our choices, behaviours, decisions that leads to pain, heartache or injury to ourselves or to others.

Suffering may be prevented by doing some of the following:

• Develop a spirituality that connects you healthily to God, yourself and others;
  
• Don't take unnecessary risks;
  
• Pay attention to the wake-up calls;
  
• Listen to feedback from others;
  
• Examine the negative consequences of your decisions;
  
• Take responsibility for yourself;
  
• Be honest at least with yourself;
  
• Learn from mistakes: other peoples and your own;
  
• Set realistic and achievable goals for yourself;
  
• Walk before you can jump
  

Suffering can also be something that is internalised. It can be closely connected to how we see ourselves or feel about our lives. God continually invites us to see ourselves as His beloved children. Accepting that our God is a loving God, and that he gave up his life for our sake because we are important and deserving of all his love.

And for us to live happily in this life, we should try not to be harsh, critical and negative towards others and ourselves, avoid being aggressive and rude to other people, mingle with people who are positive, healthy and worthy of respect, we should be able to forgive ourselves for our mistakes and stop envying other people. Life is short and we have to make the most of it. It is not too late to mend and change our ways and this holy season is the perfect time to try to start living a happy life.

SUMMARY OF EVENTS

For the sake of clarification we are giving you a summary of what actually happened on the discussions in our blog site. These are all based on facts and what was written by the bloggers, whether real name or alias was used. The names are described on how it was written on the site and not pertaining to a specific person.

After a moment of peace in our blogsite……….
Ø a certain blogger which uses ' …..' as an alias was suggesting that we close this blogsite.
Ø This was opposed by a lot of our members. HFC blogsite still lives….
Ø Then the topic just died out………….
Ø This blogger using the ‘…. ‘ alias was tracked to be originating from Brisbane, Australia

After a few days……….
Ø ‘Melason’ suddenly out of nothing burst out his/her grievances on the Filipinos here in Hull
Ø This was seconded by ‘Nosalem’.
Ø They seem to both agree on how bad the Filipinos are here in Hull.
Ø This ignited the long long debate about unspoken grievances.
Ø There was a suggestion of using the real name just to avoid or lessen trash talking but was ignored by the attacker, now in the alias of ‘melason or nosalem’
Ø Along the heated argument…… a certain ‘tsismis’, ‘nurse’, ‘carboot’, became so emotional and started attacking the personal life of our members which came to a point that it has to be censored by the admin due to scandal/stress that it might bring.
Ø This gave the reason for the admin to track these aliases…
Ø It showed on the tracker that:
o Melason………from Hull
o Nosalem……….from Brisbane, Australia
o Melason or Nosalem……….. from Brisbane, Australia
o Tsismis, Nurse, Carboot……….. from Brisbane, Australia

Ø A certain ‘Bing’ admitted that she is ‘tsimis, nurse, and carboot’, claiming that everything she said was true and she would never take back any word she said
Ø On tracking this ‘Bing’s IP address, it also originated from Brisbane, Australia
Ø Admin provided a certain ‘Eric with the latitude/longitude of the IP address of ‘Melason’ which is 53.7167 and -0.3333 (decimal value)
Ø ‘Eric’ came up with a value in DMS that point to a certain address, which is somewhat different from the value provided.
Ø Hence, start of some speculations and comments on a certain individual.
Ø Mr. and Mrs. Rey Gromet called the attention of Admin asking for explanation about the coordinates and denying that they are in any chance linked to this ‘Melason’
Ø Admin then explained the differences in the value and posted an apology for not deleting the posted new DMS value.
Ø However, Admin or any of the authors are not in any position to clear a name or point a finger on someone. We have never revealed an exact name or exact address as to who are these people using ‘aliases’.
Ø The bloggers opinions are based on their speculation and judgement. It is beyond our capacity to control their thinkings.
Ø Whatever was revealed on this post has been documented and we are ready to back up with evidence.

Recently the HFC blog was bombarded with malicious and libelous tirades from this user using the aliases below, as Admin for the blog it is my duty to defend the site and uphold the rights of its users/members and to maintain the dignity and order in our HFC blog.

I am using an American version of IP tracer and locator and it will back me up solidly for the said information I am providing with regards to its accuracy and completeness.

We would like to remind everybody about responsible blogging for the greater good, if this matter will not end up in legal proceedings, the better but to say the least, whatever you say in our HFC blog, once properly documented may be used against you in all matters of legal proceedings and not to mention this will served as the true reflection of your motives and will forever tarnish whatever reputation (if there's any left) in you. Kaya pakiusap lang, walang masamang nagtatagumpay, sino ka man, sana magbago ka na. Malayo kana just LET GO and GET A LIFE!
